Both girls golf teams in town now get to sit back and let everyone travel to them. The Scottsbluff and Gering squads on Monday both advancing to the State Tournament that will be held at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering next Monday and Tuesday.

As has been the case all season it was dominance from Scottsbluff. The Bearcats cruised to a district title with a team score of 325, which was 100 shots better than second place Gering (425). Lexington also qualified for State by finishing third.

Anna Kelley of Scottsbluff is tuning up for a run at a state championship. Kelley fired a 71 yesterday to win by eight strokes over teammate Nielli Heinhold. Scottsbluff once again put all five players inside the top ten; McKinley Knotts was fourth, Addi Wilson was fifth, and Shae Willats was seventh on the day.

Scottsbluff will be one of just a couple teams with a realistic chance to win the state title next week.

Gering will also get the opportunity to compete next week and they’ll do so on their home course. Madi Mumm has been the leader for the Bulldogs all season and yesterday was no different with Mumm leading the way for Gering, finishing in eighth place with a round of 97.

Jaylei Cervantes, Maia Swan, Lauren Doll, and McKenna Bowrun are the other Gering players that will play next week at State.

Emily McCune of Alliance was a state qualifier also, finishing 10th yesterday.
