A rural Mitchell man is behind bars following a Wednesday morning shots fired investigation in a residential area on the eastern edge of that community.

24-year-old Brandon Brown is facing felony charges of Attempted Burglary, Discharge of a Firearm within a City, Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony, and Terroristic Threats, plus two misdemeanor charges.

Sheriff Mark Overman says a woman reported that Brown was knocking at her back door with a gun, and when he couldn’t gain entry multiple shots were fired. Deputies indicated they found bullet holes in a nearby fence and vehicle upon arrival at the scene on Partridge Drive.

At his initial appearance Friday in Scotts Bluff County Court, Brown’s preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 9, and bond was set at $150,000, with a ten percent provision.
