A family favorite tradition that started near the base of Chimney Rock is being continued by the Legacy of the Plains Museum.

Executive Director Dave Wolf says they’re excited to bring back the Oregon Trail Wagon Train for the first time in years.

Wolf says they will be serving up ribeyes, potatoes, green beans and rolls just like Gordon Howard did.

Rick Bayne and his family took up the mantle of the Wagon Train from Howard starting in 2000, putting on the event until Bayne passed in 2013.

In addition, there will be lots of family friendly fun, including wagon rides, roping activities, cow pie tossing contests, and more.

This year’ s event is set for June 23rd and Wolf says tickets are selling fast. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for kids, and you can call the museum at 436-1989 for more information.
