Press Release

Morrill has hired Tom Peacock as their new football coach and Alicia Hawkins as their new Girls Basketball Coach.

Tom Peacock returns to the Morrill sidelines once again after coaching in Morrill from 2001-2010 and 2012-2016. Tom also taught and was a Principal in Morrill schools from 1999-2022.  Morrill High School is excited to have him back as he will bring great experience and excitement for our kids moving forward.  There is no question that Tom understands the dynamics of our school and our kids. As we continue to strive in putting the best coaches in place, bringing Tom back is great for our Football program.  Tom led the Lions to the greatest run they ever had in our school back in 2005 when they made it to the 2nd round of football playoffs. After beating Perkins County (Grant), they eventually lost to North Platte St. Pat’s in the 2nd round.  We look forward to having you back to lead the football program.

Alicia Hawkins will return to the basketball sideline after having various coaching stops at the high school and college levels. We are excited to bring someone in that not only has the playing experience  but the coaching experience that Alicia possesses. Alicia’s playing career involves being a two-year starter at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO as well as a member of the Mountain West Conference women’s basketball team as a Colorado State University Ram in 2012-2014. During her senior season at CSU, Hawkins helped lead the Rams to a Mountain West title. Her coaching stops include Brush High School (Colorado), Montana Tech, and most recently at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, WY. While at EWC, Alicia helped lead the Lancer Women’s Basketball Team to a Region IX Runner-Up finish in 2022, with their biggest win coming against nationally ranked WNCC in the semi-finals. We couldn’t have found a better coach to continue the traditions for Morrill Lady Lions Basketball.

Libby Schaefer is not a new name to Morrill. Libby was a stand-out basketball player for the Lady Lions from 2017-2021. She played under Coach Hawkins for the Lady Lancers at Eastern Wyoming College. Libby will be the Assistant Coach for the Lady Lions. We are proud to bring one of our own back to assist Coach Hawkins and the Lady Lions.

It’s great to have strong individuals leading our young men and women at our Schools in Morrill.
