Legion baseball: Gering and WESTCO win senior games on the road

There was road action last night for both legion programs in town and we had one broadcast on the RRN-Scottsbluff.

At Bower Shankland Field in Alliance it was Gering Platte Valley Companies rolling past Alliance with a 9-0 win via the run rule in five innings.

PVC put up a five run first inning to key the victory.

Tanner Gartner had three hits and two RBI while Bo Gable went 3-3 and drove in a pair of runs. Jackson Howard finished with two hits and he and Gable combined on the shutout on the mound as Gering improved to 17-5 on the season and they’ve won eight of their last nine games.

Gering PVC will travel this weekend to play at a tournament in Kearney.

In the juniors game last night it was Alliance winning it 9-0.

WESTCO sweeps games at Chadron

The WESTCO Zephyrs made it a 2-0 start to their week on Wednesday night with a big 17-5 road win over Chadron in five innings at Maurice Horse Field.

The Z’s scored in each of the first three innings including six in the third.

Carter Reisig started and got the five inning complete game, he struck out seven and did not allow walk. Only two of the Chadron runs were earned off Reisig.

At the plate Oscar Felix finished with a two hits and four RBI and the Z’s also got two RBI games from Jahrell Mendez, Dawson Barrett, and Carter Meyer.

With the win the Zephyrs are now 13-20 and they’ll be home for action on Saturday against Bear Creek (CO).

It was all Express in the juniors game as WESTCO won it 14-0 in five innings.
