The boys B-8 Sub-District Tournament started last night at Scottsbluff High School as the McCook Bison downed the Gering Bulldogs 61-43.

McCook controlled things most of the way on Wednesday night leading by three at halftime before stretching it to a nine point lead after three quarters and then pulling away for the 18 point win.

Gering had won at McCook by 18 points nearly two weeks ago.

Freshman Ryland Ray came off the bench for the Bulldogs to lead the team in scoring with 14 points.

Gering’s leading scorer on the season, senior Uriah Ybarra, was held out until early in the second quarter for a violation of team rules and finished the night with 11 points while fellow senior Jackson Howard, the teams second leading scorer, was held scoreless on the night.

McCook had a balanced scoring attack led by Jon Patel, who scored 17 points.

With the win McCook advances to play Scottsbluff in the B-8 championship game tonight at 6 pm. Pregame coverage will start at 5:45 pm on 107.3 The Trail & KHYYfm.com.
