The Kansas man charged with a fatal drunk driving crash that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Alliance woman was back in Box Butte County District Court on Monday for sentencing.

In April, Ryan McElroy of Salinas, Kansas crashed into Blythe Boness’ car on Highway 2 , and troopers determined that he was drunk at the time of the crash.

In September, McElroy pleaded guilty to Motor Vehicle Homicide with a Prior DUI, and yesterday District Judge Travis O’Gorman sentenced him to 45 to 50 years in prison.

If he doesn’t lose any good time, he will be eligible for parole in 22.5 years and could have mandatory discharge in 25 years.
