Carpenter Center Meal Program In Need of Volunteers

Carpenter Center Meal Program In Need of Volunteers
October 4th, 2022 | Media Release

Since 1996, the Carpenter Center in Terrytown has always focused on the community and providing  activities and programs that are inclusive to anyone, no matter their ability to pay. As a non-profit, the  Center offers its programs primarily, but not exclusively, to parents, children and the elderly who lack  the financial resources to access existing educational and recreational opportunities.

One of the many ways the Carpenter Center is helping meet the needs of the Community is through the  Community Meal Program which offers homecooked meals at an affordable cost. With the closing of  area senior centers, the impact to people who struggle with hunger has become critical. The meal  program is open to anyone, and in addition to dining at the Center itself, the Center also delivers meals  to the elderly and disabled who otherwise would not have a hot, nutritious daily meal. Meals are  delivered to Scottsbluff, Gering, Terrytown and Minatare. These folks would not eat if there weren’t  volunteers to assist in delivering the meals from the Carpenter Center.

The Community Meal Program is expanding on a daily basis and the Center is now begging for help from  the community. The Carpenter Center is in desperate need of volunteers to assist in delivering meals.  According to Matt Carpenter, Carpenter Center Executive Director, “If we don’t have the volunteers to  help deliver meals, the program won’t be able to continue to provide meals to those who are most  vulnerable in our community- the elderly and disabled. It breaks my heart to think that we might have  to eliminate delivering meals to those who are hungry and have no other options. Time is of the essence  to get volunteers to keep the program going.”

If you are interested in volunteering to make sure people are not going hungry, please call the Carpenter  Center at 308-635-8422.
