On Wednesday afternoon at Bayard High School it was senior Ashley Garza signing her letter of intent to attend school and play softball at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Bayard has had their softball program for just two years and Garza is thrilled to have found the sport and now have this opportunity at the collegiate level.

As a senior this past season for the Tigers, Garza led the team with a .627 batting average and 21 runs scored and finished with team high 43 stolen bases in 44 attempts.

Bayard head coach Steven Posey says Garza was a key ingredient to their program.

“Ashley’s speed is unparalleled. Finding someone to match her prowess will be a formidable challenge. Her presence on the field transformed the game with every at-bat and every pitch, compelling defenses to adapt their strategies solely in response to her incredible speed. Her absence will be deeply felt.”
