Richard William “Rich” Cox, 82, of Gering, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Tuesday, August 17, 2021. An informal celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Templo Fuente De Vida Church, 1020 8th Street in Scottsbluff with Pastor Cristobal Garcia officiating. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Templo Fuente De Vida Church. Richard was born January 26, 1939 in Alliance, Ohio to Helen (Bayless) and William Cox. He enlisted in the Army and later attended college.

Rich married Linda Louise Mancini on December 7, 1968. He worked as a machinist and salesman. Rich retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2003. He was an inventor, gunsmith and built his own home in Gering where he lived until his death.

He loved his family and had a heart for all people. Rich was a father figure to more than just his two sons. He enjoyed working on cars as well as hunting and vacationing in Montana to visit his son. Rich was a loving grandfather and always remembered birthdays and holidays. He loved the sound of his grandsons’ laughter and enjoyed seeing their smiles.

He was a member of Templo Fuente De Vida Church in Scottsbluff where he shared his love of singing.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Nathan (Violet) Cox of Bigfork, MT and Jeff (Phawn) Mancini of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Leanne Cox of Bigfork, MT and Armmano, Arrow and Alessio Mancini of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Sandi Robertson of Bloomington, MN; brother in law, Dr. Ralph (Felicia) Mancini of Houston, TX; nieces, Erin (Shawn) Dockter of Elk River, MN, Fia (Dana) Durrett, Elissa Mancini and Francesca Mancini all of Houston, TX; nephew, Derek (Connie) Robertson of Chaska, MN; special friend, Karen Vorse of Scottsbluff and her sons, Mike (Angie) Vorse of Burns, WY and Jason Vorse of Scottsbluff along with their families.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Linda; and brother-in-law, Jim Robertson.
