During the 30th annual Nebraska Aviation Council Symposium in Kearney last week, Western Nebraska Regional Airport was awarded with the “Project of the Year.”
Airport Director Raul Aguallo tells KNEB News that while the airport was also in the running for Airport of the Year, he feels like Thedford was well deserving of the award.
Aguallo says when he visited with the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, who make those decisions, WNRA was apparently the number 2 choice.
He says Thedford received the Airport of the Year award, and after listening to everything they have done with their airport, including a brand new runway, lighting, hanger, c-cup taxiways, Aguallo says it was well deserved.
Aguallo says they were still very proud to receive the Project of the Year award considering the 5/23 runway project, which the awarded was presented for, was something that airport officials have fought long and hard to get.
