Wet Snow and High Winds Cause Power Outages

Around 955 NPPD customers in Scottsbluff lost power around 7:25 Wednesday morning due to wet snow and high winds.

NPPD spokesman Mark Becker told KNEB News the wet snow and high winds caused a number of lines to start galloping and slapping against each other, then knocking out breakers and burning some fuses.

He says there have been other outages in the Mitchell area and Scottsbluff and the rural areas overnight.

Becker says NPPD crews have been working since midnight and were hoping to have all power restored by around mid morning, although he says the high winds were making restoration a little more difficult.
