The Nebraska State Patrol says two Dawes County residents died as the result of a two-vehicle collision Friday afternoon.
NSP spokesman Cody Thomas tells KNEB News that at about 4:20 p.m., NSP was notified of a crash that had occurred on Highway 71 approximately 15 miles west of Hemingford.
Thomas says the preliminary investigation found a Honda Pilot was eastbound when it crossed the center line and collided with a westbound Ford F-150.
The driver of the Honda, 53-year-old Hattie Hanks of Crawford, and 27-year-old passenger, Rylee Hanks of Chadron, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
An infant passenger of the Honda was transported to Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was also transported to Regional West with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Thomas says the crash remains under investigation.
