Driving on a suspended license has led to several felony drug charges for a Scottsbluff man after police see him behind the wheel over the holiday weekend.

36-year-old Juan Godinez was arrested this past Saturday, and is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, 28 to 140 grams, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl possession of cocaine, no drug tax stamp and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.

In court records, officers say in previous contacts Godinez would throw narcotics from his person to distance himself, and in this case, they found a small black bag about 20 feet from where Godinez stopped his vehicle.

They say inside the bag was nearly 71 grams of a substance that tested positive for meth, 2.2 grams of a substance testing positive for cocaine, 35 suspected fentanyl pills stamped “M30”, a scale and baggies. Officers say none of the baggies containing the suspected drugs had a state drug tax stamp affixed, and they found an operational ‘stun gun’ in the vehicle during a probable cause search.

An initial appearance in the case was set for Monday afternoon in Scotts Bluff County Court.
