Medical Cannabis Petition Drives Facing Potential Failure

Medical Cannabis Petition Drives Facing Potential Failure

Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana say their drive to collect valid signatures on a pair of petition drives faces potential failure.

Campaign Manager Crista Eggers said in a news release Friday that without 35,000 new signatures in the next six days, the campaign is in serious jeopardy of not having the signatures needed to even file the petitions next Thursday.

“I can not be more clear. We have not reached the threshold we need, we are not working on overage, and without tens of thousands of Nebraskans signing this weekend we may not be able to submit our signatures to the Nebraska Secretary of State on July 7th,” said Eggers.

However, campaign co-chair and State Senator Anna Wishart of Lincoln says they remain optimistic that just like two years ago, tens of thousands of Nebraskans will sign and turn in petitions next week.
