Huskers take 2nd match in Brazil

On day two of the tournament in Belo Horizonte, the Nebraska volleyball team swept Mackenzie’s U19 team 25-15, 25-14, 25-17. Merritt Beason had a team-high 11 kills with four blocks and an ace to lead the Huskers to their second straight sweep. Middle blocker Andi Jackson had eight kills and four blocks, and Harper Murray had eight kills. Ally Batenhorst recorded seven kills and three blocks, and middle blocker Maggie Mendelson provided six kills and three blocks. Libero Lexi Rodriguez served three of Nebraska’s six aces, and the Big Red finished with eight blocks as a team. Bergen Reilly played the match as NU’s setter after Kennedi Orr started on Thursday. NU’s third pool-play match will be on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against youth players from Dentil Praia Clube.
