September 25th, 2023 | Ryan Murphy

During a news confrerence at Roosevelt Elementary School in Scottsbluff Gov. Jim Pillen signed a proclamation declaring it Agriculture Literacy Week in Nebraska.

The governor says Nebraska helps grow food to meet the increasing need across the globe, and making sure kids know where their food comes from is imperative.

The proclamation kicked off First Lady Suzanne Pillen’s ‘Bushels of Stories’ initiative to read accurate agriculture books in elementary schools.

Scottsbluff School Board President Scott Reisig thanked the Governor and First Lady for making the trek to the Panhandle to cement the importance of agriculture.

The Governor also took a tour of Scottsbluff’s Western Sugar Factory Monday morning, and noted it was impressive that they can process such a quality product right here in the Cornhusker state.
