Felony Charges Dismissed in July Lyman Assault Case

A 40-year-old Lyman man has been who was facing felony assault charges stemming from an altercation in July will not have to stand trial .

Prosecutors initially charged Robert French with Felony Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony and Second Degree Assault following a fight that broke out in front of the Lyman Fire Hall.

However yesterday in District Court, the assault charge was lowered to a Class 2 Misdemeanor of Assault by Mutual Consent, and the weapons charge was dismissed.

A sentencing date for the misdemeanor fighting charge has been set for February 4th.
