Another Wednesday afternoon signing took place at Morrill High School with senior Libbie Schaefer deciding to stay close to home for the next couple of year to continue her basketball career as she signed with Eastern Wyoming College.

Schaefer says it’s a perfect match for her academics and basketball, “First of all they have a really great ag program, I’m going into vet science. They have phenomenal facilities. Along with that they have a great basketball team. I really love the coach. I’ve gone to several games and I really like the style of play.”

Getting the chance to continue her basketball career at the collegiate level is a big deal, “It means a lot to me. Ever since junior high I knew I wanted to play basketball in college. And it’s really been one of my big passions and it means a lot that I finally get to make this dream come true”, Schaefer said.

At Morrill this past season as a senior, Schaefer helped lead the team to a 15-8 record by averaging 13.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She’s proud to be a Morrill Lion, “It’s been amazing to go through this program. We’ve had a great coach all four years, great teammates. We’ve been successful all four years of my high school career. I just want to thank Coach (Josh) Guerue, he’s done a lot for us girls, so it means a lot to go through this program.
