“Shrek” showing at the Midwest Theater

As part of the 2023 Summer Movies “Creature Features” series, the movie “Shrek” will be shown at the Historic Midwest Theater in Downtown on Thursday, June 8, at 1:30 p.m. The film is rated PG and has a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

“Shrek” tells the story of an ogre named Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) who enjoys his solitary life in a swamp until it is disrupted by the presence of annoying fairy tale characters. These characters were banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (voiced by John Lithgow). In order to save his home and theirs, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad and embarks on a mission to rescue Princess Fiona (voiced by Cameron Diaz), who is intended to be Farquaad’s bride. However, during the rescue, Shrek discovers a deep, dark secret about the princess.

Admission to the movie is free for creatures aged 12 and under, while all other creatures can attend for a fee of $1. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. for the screening.
