Slow but steady planting progress in Eastern Nebraska as producers battle dry conditions

April 30th, 2023

As the saying goes, slow and steady wins the race.

Bryan Woita, a farmer in Saunders County near Valparaiso, said he and his crew are slowly making progress on spring planting.

Due to dry conditions, Woita said he’s done as much no-till as possible on his corn and soybean fields. In addition, he didn’t put on any anhydrous this year to save moisture.

Woita said he’s hopeful this growing season will bring more rain than last year, because he irrigated more last year than he has the last 10 years.
