A 30-year-old homeless woman is facing felony charges for allegedly stabbing a male companion while driving a van in the Mitchell area last Friday.

A Dec. 13 preliminary hearing was set for Brandy Kessler during her initial appearance in Scotts Bluff County Court Monday on Charges of Intentional Second Degree Assault and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Court records say the male victim told officers the pair had been arguing throughout the day, telling him multiple times to get out of the van, and at one point after he did, she tried to run him over outside a Scottsbluff storage unit they had been staying in together.

The man told officers once back into the van, Kessler drove toward Mitchell, and on South Mitchell road the defendant tried to stab him several times with a folding pocket knife, with one blow landing on his left forearm.

A witness in Mitchell claimed seeing the victim exit the van with Kessler in pursuit, and the defendant ultimately returned to the vehicle and wiped off a knife that was placed inside, where officers later found it during a search.
