Trial Date Tentatively Set for Man Charged in Sex Trafficking Case
January 24th, 2022 | Ryan Murphy

The Gering man arrested in a January, 2021 sex trafficking investigation is set to stand trial later this year.

67-year-old James “Jimbo” Gutierrez is charged with three Class 2 Felonies, including 1st Degree Forcible Sexual Assault and two counts of Sex Trafficking.

Details of what transpired aren’t fully known due to a sealed arrest affidavit, but Gutierrez and two others were arrested following the execution of multiple search warrants at his home and Calder’s Auto Sales.

The other two defendants- Jeffrey Calder and Justin Kumm- have already accepted plea deals; with Calder to testify against Gutierrez. His pretrial hearing was pushed back to March late last week in Scotts Bluff County District Court, but the matter has been set for the April jury term.

Each count carries a 1 to 50 year prison sentence if Gutierrez is found guilty.
