Eighteen teams competed in the WNCC Cougar Golf Classic on Saturday and a familiar grouping returned back to the top after a 3-year hiatus when The Legends captured the Cougar Golf Classic overall title at Monument Shadows Golf Course.

The Legends made up of Mike “Dingus” McKee, KC McKee, Ethan Bellairs, and Ron Gable won the team title with a close win over Team Hampton 51.44 to 52.1. Team Hampton included Jerry Gealy, Clearance Gealy, Jeff Ross, and Sam Poynter.

Third place went to the Moreno/Thompson team of Eric Moreno, Pete Moreno, Chris Thompson and Cody Thompson, who finished with a 52.29 total.

The Legends last won in 2018. The 2019 champions were Safetyline Consultants and last year the tournament was canceled because of the Coronavirus pandemic that hit. The Legends won five straight Cougar Golf Classics from 2014-2018.

The COED/women’s division was won by Libby plus 3 who earned the COED title with a 53.5 net score to topple the all-female team of Colorado’s Finest, who had a 58.16.

Libby plus 3 team members included Doug Jones, Luke Stobel, Libby Stobel, and Jake Molko, who toppled Colorado’s Finest, who consisted of former Cougar volleyball player Rachel Spitz along with Ashley Baker, Heidi Spitz, and Bailey Fassler.

There were also hole prizes at different holes that could be won along with a few betting holes.

The longest putt for a women on hole 2 was won by Sierra Ostdiek; longest drive by a man on hole 4 was won by Bob Hessler; closest to the pin in 2 shots on hole 5 was won by Parker Redfern; shortest drive by a man was won by Chad Gibney; closest to the water on hole 9 was won by Armand Castaneda; longest drive by a women on hole 10 was captured by Ashley Baker; closest to the sand on hole 12 saw Rick Gable get the win; closest to the pin on hole 13 was won by Chance Dunker; shortest drive by a women on hole 15 was won by Theresa Moorehouse; and longest putt by a man on hole 18 was won by Clarence Gealy.
