The opening round for the NSAA State Golf Championships is in the books and here is a rundown of the action for area Class B, C, and D competitors.

Class B – Scotts Bluff Country Club

It’s the Norris Titans leading in the team race with a combined +16 round (304) with Skutt three shots back in second place. The host Scottsbluff Bearcats are tied for fourth place after opening with a +29 (317). The Cats are tied with Mt. Michael with York in front of both a shot in third place.

William Mullin of Skutt shot a 4 under round of 68 to lead by two shots over Jacob Guertz of Mt. Michael. Scottsbluff’s Austin Thyne is T-3 at the moment after he shot even par 72. Kaedon Patton for Scottsbluff shot +4 (76) and he’s T-7.

Jack Maser of Gering shot +19 (91) and he’s T-54 after the opening day of action.

Class C- Columbus

Mitchell’s Cael Peters was one of the favorites heading in and on day one in Columbus it was Peters posting a 8 over par round of 80 and he’s currently T-8, sitting six shots back of the leader, Jake Richmond, from Yutan. Noah Carpenter of Palmyra is one shot back.

Gordon-Rushville’s Jace Nelson is T-19 after shooting 12 over par (84) while Bridgeport’s Braxten Swires is T-54 after an opening round 93 (+21).

In the team standings it’s Mitchell in 10th place (376). Columbus Scotus leads after a combined 330.

Class D – North Platte

The top performer from the region in Class D so far is Kimball freshman Kyler Lusche, who shot an opening round 81 (+9) which has him currently in sixth place.

Teegan Sonneman of St. Pat’s put up a three under par round of 69 and he has a four shot lead.

Jhet Holthus of Hyannis posted a round of 82 (+10) and he’s currently T-7.

Crawford is tied for 11th place in the team standings at 379 (+91) with St. Pat’s in first place at 321 (+33). St. Pat’s has a 23 shot lead on Overton.
