South Wins Shrine Bowl

Kearney-On A night that saw the game stopped a couple of times due to weather delays, the South beat the North 17-7 in Kearney in the 65th annual Shrine Bowl. The South scored 17 straight after the North scored early on a 20 yard touchdown pass to Alex Phelps of Wayne. Cal Newell of Lincoln Southwest led the South with eight carries for 70 yards. Trey Beckman of Kearney was 6-16 through the air for 104 yards and was intercepted once. For the North, Karter Kerman of Norfolk Catholic had one carry for 53 yards while UNK recruit Abram Scholting of Pierce passed for 87 yards and a score. Colton Marsh of Grand Island led the North with five tackles, Ayden Barnby of Papillon South had for stops to lead the South. The annual all star game is a fundraiser for the Shriners Hospitals of Amercia.
