Scottsbluff House, Vehicle Struck in Friday Gunfire Incident

Scottsbluff Police say no one was injured in a gunfire incident this extended holiday weekend.

According to a release issued by the department, officers were called to the area of the 1700 block of 6th Ave in reference to reports of gun shots at about 7:20 p.m. Friday night.

Sgt. Steven Lopez says the investigation found that a structure and vehicle had been struck by bullets, with no injuries reported, and evidence was collected from the scene.

The 1700 block of 6th Ave was closed to traffic for approximately 2 hours due to the investigation, which is ongoing. According to the release, the information gathered has determined it was not a random event. 

Lopez says two calls in the early morning hours of Thursday in regards to gun shots in the East Overland area are also being investigated at this time.

The Scottsbluff Police Department requests the public contact Crime Stoppers at 308-632-STOP with any pertinent information related to the incident.
