Nebraska State Patrol to Investigate Officer Involved Shooting in Gering

Gering Police have released some details following a late Thursday morning incident at 1200 M Street.

Capt. Jason Rogers says that Gering officers were dispatched to the home in reference to a male who was making statements of self harm. When officers arrived, the male pointed a weapon at one of the officers, who in turn fired his service weapon and striking him.

The male was transported to Regional West by Valley Ambulance. Scanner traffic indicated that the subject was being immediately taken to the emergency room for surgery.   Later Thursday evening, a State Patrol spokesman told KNEB News the man was in stable condition.

Personnel from the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office,  National Park Service and Nebraska State Patrol assisted with the scene.
