For the week ending June 10th the midwest sheep and goat market was mostly $10-$15/cwt higher on slaughter and cull stock. Only 1 sale this week reported softer prices and that was at the beginning of the week so it appears things improved as the week progressed. The market for heavy goat wethers and heavier lambs seems to be driven by the upcoming holiday of Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice. The holiday is June 29th. So we may see this market stay high for the next several weeks. The rain and shifting drought in the US seems to be bringing breeding stock prices up and we are seeing a little bit more volume of commercial breeding stock coming to the market. While prices are still strong overall for sheep and goats they are not currently setting records. For the cattle market though they are currently hitting and making new record highs. Beef prices are also at record highs with the Choice cut-out at nearly $330. So there is the possibility that sheep and goat prices will continue to be supported by this aggressive cattle market, but there is a lingering feeling that the cattle market will soon be due a correction.

Highlighted quotes this week include Centennial Livestock where they sold 44 head of 54 lbs feeder wool lambs for $205/cwt or $111/hd.
