John Deere has recalled nearly 150,000 compact utility tractors for a crash hazard, according to a statement.

“The front bell crank in the brake linkage can fail causing the tractor to lose braking, resulting in a crash hazard,” the statement read.

The tractors include John Deere 1023E, 1025R, and 2025R compact utility tractors.

In the alert issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, it instructed affected customers not to operate their tractors until they obtain a free repair from an authorized John Deere dealer.

John Deere has received four reports of the brake linkage failing, including one hospitalization and two impact injuries and minor property damage to the tractors.
