The Gering Bulldogs opened up a big weekend of basketball by earning a doubleheader sweep in girls and boys games against Chadron at home on Friday night.

In the opener it was the Gering girls leading from start to finish in a 51-41 win. Nickie Todd led the Bulldogs with 16 points as they snapped a three game losing streak and got back over .500 on the season at 7-6. The win snapped Chadron’s eight game winning streak as they fell to 10-5.

The boys game went to Gering by the final of 61-60 with Max Greeley knocking down the winning shot on a mid range jumper before Gering got a defensive stop late to seal the win. Greeley finished with a team high 23 points for the Bulldogs who won their second straight game to improve to 5-7.

Both Gering teams are in action action again tonight with a doubleheader at Scottsbluff.

Coverage will start at approximately 5:15 (or 15 minutes ahead of opening tip) on KNEB.tv, Allo 15, Mobius 1500, Scottsbluff STRIV, plus radio on 106.9 The Trail and KHYYfm.com. The girls are scheduled to tip off at 5:30.
