Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an individual reported in southeast Gering Friday afternoon.
According to preliminary radio communications, a reporting party advised dispatchers of a deceased individual around 3:50 p.m. on a property at the intersection of Lockwood Road and M Street.
Gering officers responded, and shortly after arrival called for detectives and the county coroner.
Capt. Jason Rogers confirmed the death to KNEB News, saying the cause was unknown, and the name of the deceased could not yet be released.
Investigators were still at the site several hours after the initial report, and KNEB News observed a pickup being towed away from the scene.
When asked about the circumstances surrounding the death, Rogers confirmed they initially appeared suspicious in nature.
Rogers said investigators were seeking more information in the case, and he anticipated additional details could be released early in the coming week.
