Gering PVC beats Sidney

The Platte Valley Companies seniors hosted Sidney last night, earning a 8-4 win at Oregon Trail Park on the strength of scoring six runs combined in the third and fourth innings.

PVC scored their five runs on just five hits. Carter Reisig the lone multi-hit game, he finished 2-4 and drove in two runs. Isaiah Murillo also drove in a pair.

Jackson Howard, Jahrell Mendez, and Ryan Johnston all saw time on the mound last night with the trio combining for five strikeouts. Gering also issued 10 walks in the game.

Sidney committed four errors on the night while Gering was pretty clean defensively with just one error.

In the juniors game it was Sidney knocking off B&C Steel by the final of 7-4.

Gering will play at Chadron tonight.

Gering coach Travis Gable talks about tonight’s game for the seniors at Chadron.

We’ll carry PVC at Chadron tonight on KMOR 93.3 FM starting at approximately 6:45 or 7 pm for the start of the pregame show.

Zephyrs lose at Alliance

The WESTCO Zephyrs fell to 1-14 on Tuesday night with a 7-3 road loss at the Alliance Spartans. For the Spartans it was their ninth straight win.

The teams traded first inning runs before Alliance took the lead in the second and then started to put the game away with a four run inning in the fourth inning.

Defensively the play of the game came for the Spartans in the top of the fourth inning as they turned a slick 4-6-3 inning ending double play to wipe out a bases loaded with one out opportunity for the Z’s.

Cortez Palomo had three hits in the loss and Ryan Hinman a pair of base hits.

The Z’s had a couple standout plays individually defensively from Dawson Barrett, who made a great catch up against the backstop netting behind home plate, and then also Blake Grasmick a nice backhand play at third base with a strong throw for an out.

The Zephyrs will play in the Laramie Tournament starting on Thursday.

In the juniors game last night the Express beat Alliance 11-5.
