Zephyrs lose at Alliance
The WESTCO Zephyrs fell to 1-14 on Tuesday night with a 7-3 road loss at the Alliance Spartans. For the Spartans it was their ninth straight win.
The teams traded first inning runs before Alliance took the lead in the second and then started to put the game away with a four run inning in the fourth inning.
Defensively the play of the game came for the Spartans in the top of the fourth inning as they turned a slick 4-6-3 inning ending double play to wipe out a bases loaded with one out opportunity for the Z’s.
Cortez Palomo had three hits in the loss and Ryan Hinman a pair of base hits.
The Z’s had a couple standout plays individually defensively from Dawson Barrett, who made a great catch up against the backstop netting behind home plate, and then also Blake Grasmick a nice backhand play at third base with a strong throw for an out.
The Zephyrs will play in the Laramie Tournament starting on Thursday.
In the juniors game last night the Express beat Alliance 11-5.
