A stormy night over the plains of Colorado resulted in a total of five diversion flights into Western Nebraska Regional Airport Thursday evening.

And while there is nothing unusual about that, one of the diverted planes ended up staying overnight, stranding some passengers in the terminal.

Airport Director Raul Aguallo explains to KNEB News that a simple mechanical problem was not an easy fix for a Frontier Airlines flight.

He says they had a flat tire, and with no way to fix that here, some passengers were sent to local hotels, some were shuttled back to Colorado by the Kimball shuttle, and several slept in the terminal.

Aguallo said Frontier sent a mechanic crew overnight and the plane was operational and ready to fly out, leaving just before 8 this morning.
