A Sept. 24 preliminary hearing has been set for a 41-year-old man accused of a knife attack in Scottsbluff late Sunday night.

Albert Ramirez made his initial appearance Monday morning in Scotts Bluff County Court on felony charges of Intentional Second Degree Assault and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, with bond set at $75,000.

In court records, police say they were called to the 1600 block of 14th Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m., finding the victim with a single two- to three-inch stab wound with a small amount of blood coming from it near the center of his chest.

The victim told investigators Ramirez stabbed him with a folding pocket knife, and a witness later told officers Ramirez was upset because someone had pulled a gun on the suspect because of the victim.

Ramirez was located early Monday at another residence and taken into custody without incident.
