Evacuees of Vista Trend Fire to Return to Homes with Containment Gains

Progress has been reported in the firefight in the hills west of Scottsbluff and Gering Friday.

According to Sheriff Mark Overman with the fire incident Unified Command, as of 5:00 p.m., the Vista Trend fire in Scotts Bluff County was 80% contained.

Citizens that were evacuated from the area of Derringer Road Thursday night may return to their homes at 6:00 p.m. tonight.

Firefighting efforts are ongoing, and Firefighters will remain in the area overnight and into tomorrow to monitor the situation.
