Authorities recovered the body of missing Dawes County man Monday afternoon in the Chadron City Dams.

County Coroner Vance Haug says authorities were contacted around 7:30 a.m. that 58-year-old Carl Kutschara was missing after his vehicle was located at the dams south of town.

Law enforcement agencies from multiple departments began searching the area and the body was spotted by a Nebraska Game and Parks Boat.

SCUBA divers from the Scottsbluff Fire Department were called north and divers recovered the body at approximately 2 p.m.

Haug says foul play is not believed to be a factor at this point, and an autopsy and toxicological screening have been ordered.

Authorities are also asking the public for assistance; if anyone saw Kutschara or his red 2011 GMC pickup out at the City Dams in the late night hours of September 19th or early morning hours of September 20th to contact the Chadron Police Department at 308-432-0510.

Agencies that responded to Monday’s incident included the Chadron Police Department, Dawes County Sheriff’s Office, Scottsbluff Fire Department, Nebraska Game and Parks commission, Nebraska State Patrol, and the Dawes County Attorney’s Office.
