U.S. Transportation officials have announced their selections for Essential Air Service providers for both Alliance and Chadron, and they’ve agreed to the recommendations by each respective city government.
For Alliance, DOT selected Key Lime Air d/b/a/ Denver Air Connection for a two-year term starting June 1 through the end of May 2023.
The 12 weekly round trips to Denver would come at subsidies of right around $2.4 million a year.
For Chadron, a change from their current carrier, as Southern Airways Express was picked to provide service to that community for flights to Denver over the same term, at an annual federal subsidy of about $2.5 million.
Southern Airways Express will use a 9-seat King Air 200 for the flights, and did offer the potential for round-trip flights to Lincoln for Husker home football games later in the fall during the proposal submission process.
