The City of Gering is getting ready to take a long, hard look at Five Rocks Amphitheater.
Last month, the city issued a request for proposals from firms to help in the development of a Facility Master Plan.
Karla Niedan-Streeks with the Gering Convention and Visitors’ Bureau tells KNEB News the intent of the planning is to take a deep dive into the existing facility, which hasn’t been done since it was completed in 1997.
“Both addressing where we are today and what the short-term needs are of the facility, but also then establishing what some of the long-term goals will be for the facility that considers everything from expansion of the stage or seating, or the grounds itself,” said Niedan-Streeks. “How do we grow Five Rocks Amphitheater to meet the needs of business today, and how do we meet those needs well into the future.”
Selection of a firm to help in the development of the Five Rocks Master Plan is anticipated within the next couple of months, as the proposals had to remain firm for a period of sixty days after the Feb. 1 deadline.
