The Chadron State College football team will play its second Thursday night home game of the season tonight (Sept. 5) when it hosts the Jamestown Jimmies from North Dakota.  Kickoff will be at 6 o’clock.

Both teams are seeking their first win.  Nebraska-Kearney downed the Eagles 18-6 in the season opener while the Mary Marauders from Bismarck defeated Jamestown 23-6 in that contest last week.

This year’s contest was arranged when Jamestown Coach Brian Mistro contacted CSC Coach Jay Long about a possible game last spring.  After being an NAIA member for decades, the Jimmies are transitioning to NCAA II, just as the Eagles did in the early 1990s when they joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Coach Mistro wanted to test the waters, so to speak.  Jamestown is moving to the Northern Sun Conference, made up of about a dozen schools from the Upper Midwest, including Wayne State of Nebraska.

This will be the sixth game between Chadron State and Jamestown, dating back to 1938.  The last time they played was 1989.  The Eagles lead the series four games to one.
