The Boys State Tennis Championships have come to a close for the three teams from the region competing in Lincoln on day one.

Scottsbluff, Gering, and Alliance combined to win a total of five matches with each school getting at least one win.

Scottsbluff tallied three total wins on the day with Ethan Ramirez going 1-1 at No. 1 singles. His opening round win came against Roncalli 6-0, 6-0. Ramirez went out in round two with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Crete. Also in singles, at No. 2, it was Jason Escamilla-Venzor going 1-1. He won his first match over Adams Central 6-0, 3-6, 10-5 and then lost in 6-3, 6-2 to York in round two. Scottsbluff’s third win of the day came at No. 1 doubles where Aaron Schaff and Barrett Frank picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hastings before falling to Lincoln Christian in round two 6-4, 6-3.

Gering and Alliance each came up with one win for the tournament. Gering’s David Karpf knocked off Lincoln Christian in round one at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-4 before dropping his second round match to McCook 6-1, 6-0. For Alliance the lone win came at No. 1 singles as Carver Hauptman beat Gross Catholic 7-6, (7-5), 6-4.
