An arrest warrant has been issued for a 38-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing a 63-year-old woman in a southwest Scottsbluff home Tuesday evening.

According to a release from Scottsbluff Police Capt. Lance Kite, the warrant for Davin Darayle Saunders is for Second Degree Murder, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Saunders is described as a black male, 5’11”, 190- to 200-pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

Kite says Saunders has numerous tattoos, including on both inner forearms, a script across his upper chest, script on the right side of his neck with stars at both ends, and a flaming skull above the navel.

Authorities found the victim, Karen Cooper of Scottsbluff, in a home on Avenue Z shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday after reporting parties said they had heard an argument and then gunshots.

Kite says investigators determined Saunders was last in Cheyenne Tuesday evening after the shooting. According to a release from Cheyenne Police, officers were called to the Walmart at about 9:45p for a domestic disturbance involving a firearm, and determined that the suspect, later identified as Saunders, fled the scene on foot prior to their arrival. Cheyenne Police Officers and partnering law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive search of the area including adjacent neighborhoods, surrounding businesses, and interstates, but Saunders was not found.

Kite says Saunders has an extensive history of violence, should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees him should contact local law enforcement.
