Area athletes perform well at CSC meet

Scottsbluff had two double winners.  Hans Bastron won both the 1600 and 3200 meters for the second year in a row and Taryn Spady swept the 60 and 200-meter dashes.  There were about 30 in both of those races.

Other winners for the Bearcats were Payton Burda, 400 meters; Paige Horn, 60 hurdles; and the girls’ 4×400 relay  that included Spady, Burda and Horn.

CSC football recruit Kyan Allen won the 400 for the SB boys for the second year in a row.  Sophomore Ryan Hinman surprised his throws coach, Rod Bussinger, by winning the shot put with a mark four feet farther than his best last year.

Gering’s only individual event winner was Eli Marez in the 800, but he also ran on the 1500 meter medley relay that was first.  The other team members were Creighton Beals. William Rairaigh and Tanner Garter.

Danika Hassel of Bayard won the girls’ long jump.  Alliance’s Jonah Amill won both the boys’ long and triple jumps.  The Alliance girls’ winners were Macey Seebohm in the 800 and Jaelynne Clarke in the triple jump. 

Southeast’s Shelby Ekwell repeated as the the girls’ shot put winner and another Cyclones’ girl, Tyler Stoddard, was second in four events.

In addition, Southeast’s Dawson Mullock was the boys’ high jump winner. 

Chadron’s Xander Provance, Malaki Swallow and Rhett Cullers went one-two-three in the hurdles and joined with Quinn Bailey to win the 4×400 relay.   Swallow also won the 60 and Bailey the 200 in the boys’ sprints.
