Officials say repairs to a power pole struck in an accident Saturday evening will leave about half of Scottsbluff without power.

According to Police Sergeant Krisa Brass, Scottsbluff Police and Fire responded to East 20th Street and 10th Avenue regarding a vehicle that struck a power pole, rolled, and was possibly on fire.

Personnel found the vehicle on its side with the driver, 53-year-old Martin Grumbles of Scottsbluff, still inside and removed him from the vehicle, after which he was taken to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Brass says the power lines were live and sparking, and once NPPD crews arrived, they worked to stabilize the pole and downed lines. She says NPPD officials say because of that work, power will remain out for about half of the city until pole repairs are completed.
