Ted was born March 1, 1947, in Chappell, Nebraska to Ted C. and Bernice (Unzicker) Grieb. He attended high school at Minatare, Nebraska.

He married Linda A. Dalbey on September 5, 1969, in Oberlin, Kansas. They lived in Oberlin a short time before moving to Scottsbluff where they welcomed their only son, Billy Grieb, on November 16, 1970.

Ted was a master of all trades and worked hard throughout his life to provide for his household. He worked for Gifford Hill for a while and then began working for Reuben Bernhardt doing concrete ditches. Ted eventually purchased Reuben’s business and operated it. Mike Keller hired Ted to work for him for a few years as well. Ted’s primary job was his employment with Western Sugar for over thirty campaign seasons.

Ted liked to keep busy and always had a project to tinker on or a repair to complete. He could truly fix anything and had a treasure trove of parts and pieces to supply any task. If a friend or family member needed a specific part, they could rely on Ted to have not just one, but multiple! His collection was jokingly titled, “Teddy’s Hardware” by his son, Billy. Ted was a skilled mechanic and enjoyed working on his vehicles. He took excellent care of them, enabling them to last much past their expected lifetime.

Ted was a playful prankster his entire life and left his family with a wealth of laughs and memories. He enjoyed watching Clint Eastwood movies in his free time. Ted had a special relationship with his nieces and had nicknames for all of his family members. It was his niece, Katie, who gifted him his own nickname, “Uncle Spank”. Ted lived a simple life and cared about his family deeply. His close friends were few, but very cherished. He was loyal and always someone who could be depended on when needed. He is now at rest with his beloved, Linda, who he yearned to be reunited with since her passing almost a year ago to the date of his death.

Survivors include his son, Billy (Shannon) Grieb of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Brandon Grieb of Denver, CO and Ashton (Kate) Kipp of Scottsbluff; his beloved great-grandchildren, Embyr and Paisley Kipp of Scottsbluff; sister-in-law, Peggy (Kevin) Segelke of Bayard; nieces, Katie (Tonia) Segelke, Kim (Nate) Graves, Kassie (Trevor) Harris, and April (Nate) Strom all of Scottsbluff and Debra (Steve) Hajek of Gering; great nephews and great nieces, Kacey (Mark) Segelke, Nicolaus Absalon, and Kobe and Alayna Strom all of Scottsbluff; along with many other extended relatives and a host of friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Grieb and Bernice Zimmerman; step-father, Don Zimmerman; sister, Collette Hessler; and infant brother, Marc.
