Steven Paul Evans, 64, of Scottsbluff, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, June 9, 2023, at WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Willie Coop officiating. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Steve’s honor be directed to the Panhandle Humane Society or to Festival of Hope. He was born 6/18/58 to Robert and Barbara (Goodwin) Evans at St Mary’s Hospital in Scottsbluff. He lived his entire life in Scottsbluff, attending Bryant Grade School and graduating in 1977 from Scottsbluff Sr High. Immediately after graduating, he began volunteering as a firefighter, first with the city volunteers and later with Scottsbluff Rural where he was one of the founding members. He volunteered for 30 years as a firefighter.

His work life included B and C Steel, Twin City Roofing, Schank Roofing and most recently Scottsbluff Public Schools.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Karen (Gibson) Evans and the pets he loved dearly, Boomer and Tabby; sisters Carolyn Grable and Kathy Staude (Bruce); brothers Earl Evans (Brenda Suhr), Larry Evans (Betsy Shook); sister-in-law Nancy Marsh; brother-in-law Clayton Gibson; nephews Louis Spencer (Jonna), Eric Evans Mathew Grable, Cecil Evans; and niece Heather Evans Rios, great nephew Kaeden Spencer and great niece Macy Spencer along numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Aaron Evans.

Steve fought a brave and courageous fight for the past two years, never giving up and maintaining a positive attitude. He was a loving, kindhearted and generous soul and he will be deeply missed.
