Sharon K Lemley, age 75, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Sharon (Meyer) Lemley was born February 17th, 1949 in Scottsbluff, NE to Laverne and Mary Meyer. She grew up helping out on the family farm until she graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1967 and went on to study for 2 years at a bible college in Colorado. She married her husband Michael (Mick) Lemley on May 17th, 1970. They made their homestead north of Scottsbluff where they had 2 sons, Miles and Matthew Lemley. Sharon stayed home and raised the boys until they were school aged and then worked in various AG related jobs.
Sharon had a love for history and genealogy. She wrote a book about the history of the Lake Alice School where at least 1 immediate family member to the Lemley’s attended since 1915 until it closed. She also traced her family tree back to Russia before they migrated to the United States.
She was a true matriarch. She was always involved always knew what was going on with other family members. She was also the family encyclopedia for birthdays as she had every one memorized. She was well known for her outstanding cooking and had a special skill at preparing German cuisine like blinna and cabbage burgers. There was never a family function where she wasn’t asked to bring her dina kuchen.
She enjoyed volunteering for the church where she was known as “the funeral lady” for her knack of organizing the helping hands to provide a meal for a grieving family. She also enjoyed spending her time with her cats and nursing baby kittens or orphaned baby bunnies back to health. She played on several bowling leagues and even traveled to Las Vegas to play in a tournament with her mother-in-law.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 54 years, Mick Lemley, two sons: Miles (Dawn) Lemley and Matthew (Kathy) Lemley, bonus son Jeremy (Tabitha) McCloud, grandkids Ashlee Lemley, Mackenzie (Christopher) Buskirk and Dawson Jacobs, beloved great grandchildren Bralynn Lemley, Emberly Lemley and Ila Buskirk, bonus grandkids Jordyn, Joseph, Jaylee and Justyce McCloud, uncle Ken (Norma) Meyer, sister Diane (Steve) Tucker, brother Vern (Jennifer) Meyer, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded into death by her grandson Hunter Lemley, parents Laverne and Mary Meyer and parents in law Emmitt and Doris Lemley.
A visitation for Sharon will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home & Crematory, Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Zion Evangelical Church with Pastor Andrew Griess officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
