She grew up in Flaxton, North Dakota where she attended high school. Upon graduation, she left to Blair, Nebraska to attend Dana College where she eventually met her husband Errol Wiges. They were united in marriage in Flaxton, ND on August 17, 1958. Soon after they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she taught elementary school and Errol finished his degree. Their family expanded with the birth of two sons, Gene and a year later Jeff. When Errol was offered a teaching job in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, they moved and this is where they made their permanent home, adding two more children, Brian and two years later Lori. Margaret spent 36 years in her teaching career beginning at Sunflower Country School, and then Mitchell Elementary Public School. She loved teaching and many of her students would tell her family what a wonderful impact she had made in their lives. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Errol, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.

Margaret lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She was an avid reader, and also had a passion for motorcycling, square dancing, tole painting, gardening and camping. She also loved to travel including a cruise to the Panama Canal with her siblings.
