Marcia Ann Ost Kuncl

Marcia Ann Ost Kuncl
April 22, 1938 - July 1, 2024

Marcia Ann Ost was born in Seward, Nebraska, to Maynard Arthur Ost and Wilda Jensen Ost on April 22, 1938. She spent her childhood in Seward and in Onawa, Iowa, and she spent her teenage years in Scotts Bluff County. She graduated from Morrill High School in 1956 and attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. On May 5, 1957, she married Ronny V. Kuncl of Morrill, and to this union were born Dean Eric and Annette. They were an Air Force family and lived in many different locations in the US and around the world. Ron’s retirement in the summer of 1978 brought them back to Morrill where the children graduated from high school.

Ann, as she was commonly known, was a long-time Christian Scientist who spent her life helping others, and serving her community in many capacities. She enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, reading, and socializing with friends, including frequent get-togethers with high school classmates over the years. Ann fondly remembered the Street Rod years, where she and Ron drove with other Street Rod friends to different car shows around the country. Among other things, she served on the Nebraska Rural Community Federal Credit Union Board, was active in the Friends of the Library, the Morrill Community Development Group, and was a member of Sunflower Chapter 214 of Eastern Star.

After Ron’s passing, Ann moved to an independent senior living community in Longmont, Colorado, in 2022 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She spent many fun hours with them and their little dog, Abby, who was always very excited to see her.

Ann died on July 1, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her son Dean, her parents Maynard and Wilda Ost, and her parents-in-law Vic and Leona Kuncl. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Annette and husband Tony Dutenhoffer of Longmont, Colorado; her granddaughter Chelsea Dutenhoffer of Glendale, California; her granddaughter Katy McGee and husband Will of Greeley, Colorado; her brother Maynard (Rusty) and wife June of Ft. Myers, Florida; her sister Julia (Judy) McMillie of Greeley, Colorado; and many, many friends and acquaintances. She will be remembered as a fun and steadfast friend to all who knew her. She will be missed, but forever loved.

No services are planned. Interment will be at a later date in the Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska, next to her husband. Memorial donations in Ann’s name may be made payable to Morrill Community Development and sent to: Pete Cawiezel, 10701 CR 7, Morrill, NE 69358.
