Lorrie Sue Cox, age 63, of Scottsbluff, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at University of Colorado Hospital with family by her side after complications from a courageous battle with health conditions. Lorrie was born May 12, 1957 in Casper, Wyoming to Ken and Laura Nickelson. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School and attended college at WNCC. She was united in marriage to Terry Nickal and had two children, Gary and Jamie. She was united in marriage to Rick Cox in 1998 where she also welcomed step-son Jeff, and was blessed with Matthew David.

Lorrie volunteered with many organizations throughout the years including youth bowling programs, Special Olympics, girls softball, school room mother, and community soup kitchens. Lorrie was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan. She was always the first person her friends called for help with house painting, delicious dishes for gatherings and help with any craft projects they couldn’t quite handle on their own. She was also always there for a loving supportive shoulder whenever life threw something overwhelming at family and friends.

Mom spent numerous years painting houses both interior and exterior and did an amazing job. Even when her health wasn’t at its best she would grab a brush and get the job done with perfection. Although that was one of her favorite things to do, we will continue to hold on to the memories of her silly songs, stories, and smile that could brighten any room. The love she showed for her family, friends and especially her grandchildren will have a lasting effect on many lives. She was the best grandma ever and we are so thankful for the time she was here to impact their lives.

Left to remember her every day are her husband, Rick Cox; children, Gary, Jamie (Carlos), Jeff, and Matthew; grandchildren, Charlie, Alex, Kameryn, and Calvin; sisters, Connie (Keith), Helen (Tom), Lisa (Pat); mother in law, Virginia Cox; brother in law, Guy (Deb); and many nieces and nephews including special nephews, Larry (Jamie) Cushing and Landon Cushing and “grand kids”, Jameson and Damien.

Preceeding her in death were her parents, Ken and Laura; sister, Linda; brother in law, Larry (Butch) Cushing; daughter in law, Molly; nephews, Christopher and Korey; and niece, Cassie.
